A unique display of some of the most bizarre and frankly disturbing parts of the body, the Hunterian collections contain over a million objects. Located in Holborn, West London many are world-famous.

Take Charles Babbage's brilliant brain for example, if you don’t know this guy then stop reading right now, as he was the one who invented the modern analytic computer.

It is unlikely that any of us will be as smart as Mr. Babbage, but it’s worth making a comparison between your brain and his. You also have another Charles on display, Charles Byrne, the Irish giant who measured seven foot seven inches.

Byrne’s skeleton makes you wonder whether he was any good at basketball, as it is taller than the NBA’s, Yao Ming (7ft 6 in). If Babbage was about brains, Byrne was all about brawn.

Bone collector

If lizards and their tails turn you off, then the two-tailed lizard will have you screaming in horror. Then, there is also the skull of a 25 year-old man that is three times larger than the normal head.

The Hunterian contains many collections that will make you squirm right to the stomach, especially the cross-section display of an East Indian tortoise’s abdomen.

With such a varied display that would put the Bone Collector to shame, the Hunterian museum is the ideal venue to spend an afternoon filled with wondrous curiosity.
