The Wellcome Collection houses Sir Henry Solomon Wellcome’s collections, most of which are about medicine and medical science. The oddities of the museum start from the entrance, as things get weirder and weirder as you explore this place. When you walk in you might do a double take, as a man walking on the lobby ceiling will greet you. And yes, it is a life size statue.

A box of Japanese sex aids, a chastity belt (used to lock women’s genital organ when their husbands left home in 19th century) and male anti-masturbation devices from 1880s Britain are some of the more pleasant items of the collection.

Sir Henry Wellcome, was the modern day Indiana Jones. A medical professor by practice, Sir Wellcome was quite the adventurer, and went about the world collecting various medical artefacts.

A recommended section would be the first floor, which displays Sir Wellcome’s personal collections. These include some sex aids, and objects you would have rather not come across. If you want some skeletons in your closet you can purchase them at the gift shop which has many other queer objects.

A selection of this year’s Wellcome Image Awards is also on display. Walking inside the small dark room, with fantastic, revealing pictures on the wall, you will feel like you are on Avatar’s Pandora.

If you want to enjoy an aesthetically pleasing trip of beautiful and awe-inspiring pictures, or buy some quirky “furniture” for your new home, then the Wellcome Collection should be on your must-go destination list.

What the hell is this?

Have you ever seen a man walking on a ceiling? Or view sex toys from 100 years ago? If so, then the Wellcome Collection would be the best place visit, as it is probably the most intriguing and quirky museum in this city.
