The above is the standard beginning of every clip on Mitzi TV, a web-channel, co-starred by her teddy bear Teddy Tedaloo. Self-proclaimed oddball, Mitzi Szereto breaks the norms of the modern-day TV presenter, as during each broadcast Mitzi is rarely seen without her best friend, and sidekick Teddy Tedaloo.
“We met in Seattle, Washington. If I told you he came into my room one day would you believe me? That’s how it happened,” she said. Teddy is Mitzi TV’s producer assistant extraordinaire. “He also helps outs with the blog and on everything I do, but basically he treats me like a slave.”
Her website introduction aptly sums up what she has in store: “From the offbeat and bizarre to just plain lunacy, it's all happening right here. So tune in to explore life from the mad side.” Her style of presenting is unique as it is bizarre, and there are plenty of videos to amuse.
It includes, the search for East End delicacy jellied eels, and interviews with none other than Batman and Fred Flintstone. “I make it as my own. Because, I’m some kind of an oddball anyway, so I made this oddball thing out of it and people seem to really enjoy it,” she said.
Bizzare
Mitzi and Teddy have been together for 10 years, and are fast becoming an international hit: “The most recent video has been picked up by some channel in the USA and has been shown in San Francisco, in Sacramento and Missouri,” she said.
“I read about a couple of people doing WebTV in the USA. I looked at it and thought ‘that’s really shit’. I decided to give it a shot because I thought I could do better.”
Her weblog Errant Ramblings gives more hints of her talent, but it is her Mitzi TV venture what makes her –and her teddy bear partner - a real buzz in London.
Teddy has his own profile and Facebook group. Both are also on Twitter, MySpace and Flicker. “People send messages and comments about how they love my blog, or the TV thing and the new book and that they’re going to buy it on Amazon. It is bizarre.”
